I Now Know...

I now know is the challenge for the month of August at SIL..three simple words that had me cracking my head *lol*...but here's what I managed to come up with...it's a pic of me horse riding on my vacay at South Africa.. I couldn't think of anything other than this cause I truly now know how to ride a horse! it was horrifying in the begining..but it got better as galloped along :)

It's by far the simplest layout I have ever come up with and I didn't even use much embellies (practically nothing actually) cause the Karen Foster PP was detailed enough!!! I love that PP :)

hmmm...

Can't believe that my last blog post was last Thursday!! bad me!! :P I've been running around a little...Friday was a cousin's wedding, Saturday I joined a class by Jessy at Papier followed by the very same cousin's wedding reception that evening...Sunday hubby & I left for a little township called Taiping..it's slightly over 3hrs drive from KL..

We made it a point to attend my great granma's memorial there this yr..Can't believe that it's been 20 yrs since she left us..my memory of her is strong...despite my being only 8 at the time she left us...

She was a lady of great charisma..full of bravery and strived hard to provide for her 14 children despite being a single mother during the Japanese Occupation in the then Malaya (my great granpa passed away young after a short illness)

Very creative and often staged small shows featuring her grandchildren at festivals was one of her other strong points....There were lots of interesting facts about our family that my hubby & I learnt from this memorial cum eulogy launch...for one..We didn't know that my great granma left behind a family of 14 children (28 including their spouses), 88 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and now if she were alive, she would've been able see her 5 great great grandchildren! (though I do believe the actual figure's slightly over that mentioned :))

I love it that my family's huge and though we all live far from each other, we still make it a point to join little gatherings like this..I'm glad I went! :)

Anyways..I'm off to create some cards since it's been a while since I posted anything over the last 5 days! See ya tomorrow!! :)

Friendly Challenge! :)

Jessy comes up with the awesomest challenges ever..so it comes as no surprise that when she gave me challenge #3, I couldn't wait to dive right into it...!

The following pic was to be used as inspiration to the layout. But it came with a twist! no distressing and only pastel shades!! I absolutely love distressing and staying away from it for this lo was super tough! and pastels? I've never tried them on my layouts...but you know what? Now that I've tried 'em, I love it!!! ;)

Here are some pics..and guess what? Jessy was kind enough to join me in this one & even offered to do a reveal of it together!!!! How cool is that eh! :) So hop on over to Jessy's blog and check-out her yummy lo!!!! :)

Jessy's Challenge No.2 ;)

I've been doing much too many cards of late that layouts have been conveniently pushed to the back of my mind *lol* Until Teacher Jessy gave me another round of challenge when I requested it (after all, the earlier challenge she threw at me got me all vintage & I loved it to bits...it got me rolling again really)! :)

I happily jumped into this challenge (though there was a lil bit of confusion in the begining *lol*) as I've been in dire need of a lil kick & push :)

Here's what the layout had to have:
5 photos
Background Stamping
Misting
3 Different Border Punches
3 Handmade Flowers
No Patterned Papers

Doesn't it sound like fun already! *hehe* It was a big challenge for me as it had lots of new things I had to experiment with such as mist, background stamping, and 5 photos!!! That's a lot of photos!!

Background Stamping (POD & Shabby Green Door Stamp and bubble wrap stamping
(a neat tech by Jessy) Handmade flowers and a wee bit of journaling here

Misting and one of the border punches used.
I don't have very good control with the mist spritzer so I sprayed a lil on a toothbrush and flicked the brush gently over the layout.

Another puncher that was used..MS Eyelet Lace

And the third border punch used.. MS Scallop Dot

The final product

Thank you so much for the fun challenges Jessy!! I had an awesome awesome time! I'm ready for you to throw more at me *hehe* You rawk gurl! ;) hugs

The Power of Love is Infinite..isn't it?

I was going through a major phase of mojoless-ness the past few days..something I had never quite experienced and while in sms conversation with my friend Teacher Jessy..I rambled about it.. :) she was soo kind enough to rub off some mojo on me..AND...challenge me!!! ain't she the sweetest!! :)

But it was a tough one mind you...her challenge to me..was to create a card/layout using these requirements:

1 Stamped Sentiment
2 Pcs Cardstock
3 Pcs PP
4 chipboard/stickers
5 pcs of photo

Here's what I came up with..
Materials Used :

Core-dinations Yellow Cardstock ( I love this cause when I distress it, the other side of it which is black shows)
Brown Cardstock
MM PP
Cuttlebug Seeing Spots Embossing Folder
Graphic 45 tag (I'm loving this line to bits! so vintage!!!)
K&Co Amy Butler Die Cut Cardstock

I don't have many sentiment stamps...so I instead stamped the background using POD stamps. The 2 pieces of cardstock are the yellow & brown one which I distressed to my heart's content *lol*.. I stamped the background first so you can see through the distressed yellow cardstock..

I used 2 pcs of pp and a Ferrero Rocher barcode strip..hope that counts as a PP too *lol* & I used 3 die cut cardstock instead of chipboard...

I had lots of fun working on this one...though I slept at almost 3 a.m *hehe*! Thank you so much Jessy for the kick! :) Did I pass your challenge?

Altered Bull anyone?

My sil came to me with a funny, yet cute, request. Her office in Singapore was given a bull to decorate (in our terms prob alter *lol*) for their upcoming bull race (It's a marathon of sorts in November if I'm right). It was pretty challenging not only cause it's one very very masculine bull, but, also cause it was going to be presented to the some of the VIPs that will be attending the event..

Here's what I did with it..And I sure hope it looks ok :P I did very minimal design so as not to crowd it..I used arcylic dabbers to dab paint at random areas..to give it highlights...a dash of lace & pearl strand were attached to the body..then I painted the BG flower chipboard with crackle paint and again dabbed a lil bit of arcylic paint on the petals..

After that, I added a fimo bead & butterfly for dimension..the last touch, was to add a button with twine round it's neck so it didn't look so fierce anymore :)

Gosh I hope I didn't make a mess out of it...I quite like it & sure hope my sil will be pleased too..

Thank You

Here's a lil something I made last night..it's not for any challenge blogs...just me playing around with the stuff I have at hand...the lil music note at the top left of the card was made with photo turns, music note PP, glossy accents and a bit of twine.

The copper background was a black piece of black cardstock stamped (using white acrylic paint) with an All Night Media flourishes stamps and embossed using some stamp-it embossing powder in copper. I don't own a heat gun, so I tried a lil something using my cooking utensils..a frying pan! (until I get a heat gun, this would prob substitute that for now *lol*) but on low heat of course..you can try it too..!

Then, using the clear stamps, I used my MM stamp for the thank you sentiment. I first heat embossed using gold embossing powder and then only did I use distress inks over it. As the sentiment was not clear enough, I re-stamped the sentiment using Staz-On in black.

Materials Used :

Black Cardstock
Stamp-It Embossing Powder (Copper)
Quickutz Butterfly Die
Music Notes PP
7 Gypsies Photo Turns
Glossy Accents
Twine
White Acrylic Paint
