Decorated Wreath Ring Calender

Hello there Doodlebug fans! :) Today I'd like to share with you'll on how I have used my Doodlebug Designs Core Cardstocks. Many of us would usually use cardstock simply for the base of a card. While that's the main purpose of cardstock, there also various other options for putting these vibrant, pretty shades of paper to other use. What I've done here, is to make flowers!

The papers are of beautiful quality and molding it into shape was rather easy. I have also used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the flowers and assemble them. But for those of you who don't own a cameo, fret not,  there are tonnes of other things you can use to make flowers.

To begin with, you can use punches and simply layer the flower one punched out shape over the other and stick a brad round the center. Alternatively, you may also resort to the conventional die cutting method.

Here's a step by step tute on how I put my Calender together. If you don't intend to use this as calender, you can always use it as a deco piece by replacing the ring on the top with a die cut butterfly or any other shape that will blend with the flowers. You may also use it as a Birthday reminder.

*Note that you will need to make 3 of these to form a calender. They may vary in size, one for date, another for month and one more for year ;)

Tutorial

Materials Needed: Wreath Ring, Washi Tape & Handmade flowers from Core Cardstock

Step 1: Begin by covering up the polystyrene wreath with Washi Tape. This makes the ring look more presentable when viewed from other angles :)

Step 2: Using a heat gun or very strong glue, arrange and adhere your handmade flowers onto the ring. Continue to do so until the ring is almost covered

Step 4: Once the ring is covered with flowers, arrange a set of tags which have numbers to reflect as date / month / year through a ring binder ring and clasp it around the polystyrene ring. This, as mentioned earlier can also be replaced with other die cut shapes and such :)

Other Materials: Polystyrene Wreath Ring, Glue Gun, Silhouette Cut Files

This was an awesomely fun project for me to create and make a lovely gift to spruce up that dull space at home or your desk at work. Have a go, and let me know if you liked making it! :)

Hello there

Hey there dear bloggy friends...today I haven't got a card, or layout (or any project for that matter) to share..it's been a tiring end of week for me...just a couple of hours after my last post, my lil gurl suddenly threw up..and minutes after that she developed a very high fever..

I suppose it's part of growing up that kids go though ups and downs in their health, but she had to be admitted to the hospital as her fever never went down till yday..only to return this morning..we've brought her back home as I thought home ground may probably help her recover sooner..and I hope I made the right decision..

Do bear with me while I juggle my time between caring for her, planning for her 2nd Birthday Bash (yeap my baby will be turning two next wknd! :)) and visiting your blogs yeah..I reckon things will be back to normal in no time..n hoping for her speedy recovery so she gets to enjoy the lil party her mummy's planning for her..! :)

Take care & Catch ya soon ladies!

Mini Album

It's nice when your Wedding Anni & Birthday are just days apart from each other isn't it...? :) You get double the gifts...double the dinners and double the celebration..! *lol* My birthday was yesterday, just a few days after my 2nd Wedding Anniversary..and I was spoilt rotten... again..Hubby dearest (& Aneeka *lol*) got me new mobile phone!!! I'd say it was much deserved cause Aneeka broke my previous one & and I've been using a much older one (with a cracked screen *hehe*) without complaining...I'm soooooo very pleased with my new one!! :) cause it's got a 5 megapixel camera, built-in Wi-Fi and A-GPS!! yay!!

Then, I have this odd habit of saving shopping carts of my fav goodies on my fav bar so that when I'm done feeling guilty, I make my new purchases and just check-out the saved cart..This time, my sis did me a favour and checked out the stamps I've been eyeing at PTI!!!! I was soooo excited (she got it shipped to my cousin who's in the US for her internship) that when I got 'em, I wasted no time in using them right away!

And alo cause it's my birthday month, I got to purchase the Spellbinders Die from Papier at RM20 off!! yay!! Anyways..here's what I made yesterday..A mini album of Aneeka at the age of 3 mths! :) I used only 2 patterned papers and the rest are scraps.

Here's my new phone *lol* & what I made with the stamps!

hmmm...

Can't believe that my last blog post was last Thursday!! bad me!! :P I've been running around a little...Friday was a cousin's wedding, Saturday I joined a class by Jessy at Papier followed by the very same cousin's wedding reception that evening...Sunday hubby & I left for a little township called Taiping..it's slightly over 3hrs drive from KL..

We made it a point to attend my great granma's memorial there this yr..Can't believe that it's been 20 yrs since she left us..my memory of her is strong...despite my being only 8 at the time she left us...

She was a lady of great charisma..full of bravery and strived hard to provide for her 14 children despite being a single mother during the Japanese Occupation in the then Malaya (my great granpa passed away young after a short illness)

Very creative and often staged small shows featuring her grandchildren at festivals was one of her other strong points....There were lots of interesting facts about our family that my hubby & I learnt from this memorial cum eulogy launch...for one..We didn't know that my great granma left behind a family of 14 children (28 including their spouses), 88 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and now if she were alive, she would've been able see her 5 great great grandchildren! (though I do believe the actual figure's slightly over that mentioned :))

I love it that my family's huge and though we all live far from each other, we still make it a point to join little gatherings like this..I'm glad I went! :)

Anyways..I'm off to create some cards since it's been a while since I posted anything over the last 5 days! See ya tomorrow!! :)

What a Wonderful Day!

Ohh yesterday was the awesome-est day ever! albeit a lil jam packed, it was fruitful alright! I started off early by helping out at my friend Kristyn's church charity carnival..then made it on time (yes on time! despite family lunch :)) to Jessy's class at Scrap-n-Crop!!

It was definitely a class not to be missed...there was lots of laughter, fun & good company! & needless to say, it was one helluva crop-arty! ;) but then again, all of Teacher Jessy's workshops are always fun packed eh! & I was pleasantly surprised with a goodie bag from my fav teacher!! A bag of yummy goodies!! Including THIS notebook which I madly love! *lol*...trust me...it's more beautiful real life ;) Thank you soooooo very much Jessy babe!! Your gift is truly heart warming :)

I'm thankful that scrapping has brought me many new friendly kinships, one of them being Jessy, that I'll truly treasure :) Thanks again babe!

Here's are some pics of what we made at Jessy's class plus sum sneaky shots of the goodies :) (do pardon me if the pictures aren't in the best of quality, my slr's missing in action!)
Happy Sunday ladies!!

Home Sweet Home! :)

Hi dearies! I'm back!!! I got back yesterday (7th July) morning and guess what I did...? lol...I unpacked first...cause I hate having things lying around ...especially luggage bags waiting to be unpacked! (the only place that's allowed to be messy is my craft table ..ooopps dining table *lol*)

After that...I went straight to my laptop & checked out all my fav blogs! yes! I didn't sleep despite the terrible terrible jetlag! & once that was done..I made a card!! just too much for me & now I need to get sleep..perhaps the whole day since hubby's working from home today! yay!

It's been two weeks away from Aneeka & I find so many changes in her..she can walk now!! Can't believe I missed my baby's first steps! :(...she's become very stubborn too & you won't believe it but she's terrified of the sound the vuvuzela makes!! I laughed so hard when I saw her expression :) I missed her alot while I was in SA & Mauritius that I plan to take her with me on my next trip!!

Anyways...I'll be posting my card pic later today (seem to be lacking a lil bit of mojo but I'm sure he'll be back! :)) Here are some pics from my SA trip..will post the Mauritius ones a lil later...there are thousands of pics!!!!

Heya

Hey there dearies! I've been pretty lucky to be able to do this lil blog entry. Our friend's place over here in Joburg's got internet connection yay!! and we've had a pretty relaxed day today..despite the cold cold 800km drive!! :P So here I am, doing what I love best!

We managed to catch 2 World Cup Matches, the Argentina (woo hoo!!) and Mexico game & the Brazil & Chile game! It was awesome I promise you! Being there, and watching all those hunky players in action was just too much fun! *lol* :)It's winter here now, and the coldest it's been is 5 degrees!!!! gosh I can't stand 16 what more 5!! But it's so lovely here I'd consider moving! *lol*

I've been doing a bit of shopping and our friend (I should give her a name eh) Maria's got plans to take me scrapbook supplies shopping on Friday! How good is that huh :)

Today we went to quite a number of places...We started off with a lil horse riding (3 hr drive from Joburg). I was a lil apprehensive, but I must say it was awesome awesome fun!! we were taken through the woods (I'll be uploading pics once I'm back ;)) & my horse was one big bully! he kept shoving the other guys aside..but I absolutely loved it when he gallopped...reaaall nice. :) he was rather well behaved throughout the rest of the ride though!

We then went on to a few tourist stops : The Berlyn Falls, God's Window and a quaint lil town call Pilgrim's Place for tea. It was such a tiring day & drive that I slept all the way home!

Anyways...my holiday's been great so far..but I do miss my baby terribly..I call home every few hours to find out how she's doing...I've got pictures of her with me too would you believe it!! *lol* Though I'm sad my lil vacay's coming to an end soon, I'm looking fwd to going home!! Just to be with my gurl & get started on my addictive hobby!!

On another note, I've got 3 exciting & happy news to share! :)
